Initial flight training program

comprehensive course

Our Training Curriculum includes Ground School that emphasizes your aircraft systems knowledge, required items for your Flight Review and Instrument Proficiency Check and Scenario Based Training tailored to your typical mission. Each flight is conducted in your airplane allowing you to become confident and familiar with how things work when you complete training. Flight training includes Normal Procedures, Maneuvering including Steep Turns, Stalls and Unusual Attitude Recoveries, Instrument Training and Abnormal and Emergency Procedures. Additionally, we address scenarios that you are curious about and walk you through challenges like “The Worst Day in the Office” (Smoke in the Cockpit) to give you confidence in even the worst case scenario. All of this is completed in the picturesque views of the Rocky Mountains or in your desired training location.

Our team of experienced flight instructors is the backbone of our flight training program.

Initial Flight Training Syllabus

  • Pre-Training Preparation: Vision Air developed study materials and resources that will help lay a foundation for safe and efficient training. Systems presentations and quizzes inform and equip you with a theoretical understanding of how your aircraft works.

  • Ground School: This initial portion of training solidifies your understanding of important principles of your airplane such as Turbine or Piston Engine theory, Pressurization, Hydraulics, Fuel and other systems knowledge. We take time to answer your questions to help you fly safely and efficiently in your operation and mission. We also cover the required items for your Flight Review, Instrument Proficiency Check and any required endorsements you may need such as Complex, High Performance and High Altitude Aircraft Endorsements.

  • Initial Flight Training: Under the supervision of our expert instructors, you begin your hands-on flight training in your aircraft. Your training will begin with how to Pre-Flight and what things to look out for, Engine Starting and Starting Failures, and moves through all Normal Operations. You will complete maneuvers to understand how your aircraft feels and execute numerous takeoffs, landings and go-arounds to hone your skills. The training moves onto understanding your specific avionics and how the different components communicate and how they work in instrument conditions. Lastly, we give you confidence in understanding what each system does and does not do, giving you the oppurtunity to experience abnormal situations including a Cabin Dump, Emergency Gear Extension, and flying solely with the Standby Flight Instruments. This training equips you with the ability to safely diagnose abnormal situations while executing a safe outcome.
